Eitan is an intelligent 10-year-old boy from Jerusalem. He loves reading and making “science experiments” from everyday items. You would think that a child like Eitan is always ready to tackle a new day at school - but you'd be wrong. Eitan is a boy who almost always starts his day hungry.
Eitan is a student at Mofet School. We all agree that kids like Eitan deserve more! - but is there a way to provide them with the healthy, nutritious foods that they need?
Mofet School is located in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Jerusalem, Israel and almost all children there live in crippling poverty. Many of the
se children come from single parent homes or are raised by a grandparent. Often, breakfast is tap water and a slice of white bread; other times, a child is sent to school hungry. These kids are talented and energetic, but signs of crushing poverty are clear - worn-out shoes, old clothing and, worst of all, gripping hunger.
Chamah funds a school-based breakfast program for the children of Mofet. A wholesome breakfast is served to 350 students each school day and the lunch fee is subsidized. Since opening our doors in 2009 we have served more than 130,000 nutritious meals helping children to succeed on their school day.
It costs less than $1.50 to give a wholesome breakfast to a young student. Please think about what your gift will mean for a poor child in Israel and make your tax-deductible gift to CHAMAH now!
